One of the new features of the new release of the VSPortal web interface is the IM functionality. The messenger client works with the Openfire server connected to Voipswitch’s database so that all VoIP clients can now use also chat, conference rooms, presence and other great features coming with this package. The messaging protocol is Jabber.  Now  users from Vippie! softphone client can also chat with their friends logged in through the web.  It is very comfortable especially when logging in from different computers for example when travelling, from internet kiosks etc. The IM module, as the whole VSPortal,  is made in Flex which is cross platform and works from browser without having to install locally.
